Safety Reminder
Earlier this week, a car with an out-of-state license plate came onto campus, and two of the passengers got out and attempted to break into several cars in our parking lots.  We are thankful for surveillance cameras throughout our campus which helped police and our administration deal with this situation. As always, we would advise anyone parking at Wheaton Academy to lock car doors.

Upcoming Parent Survey
Because Wheaton Academy places a high value on parent feedback, we conduct a parent survey every three years. This year, we have enlisted the help of SchoolRIGHT to conduct a CONFIDENTIAL PARENT SURVEY for our school community.  The survey will launch on Tuesday morning, May 11, from surveys@schoolright.net.  Please watch for the survey in your email, and if necessary, check your spam folder. Note: Survey invitations are email specific and will not work if forwarded to another email address.

March 11, 2022

Dear Wheaton Academy Parents & Students,

This weekend marks two years since we made the decision to move to virtual learning for an anticipated two-week alternative from normal life at Wheaton Academy.  Little did we know what was ahead for all of us.  Since then, we have experienced over two months of virtual learning, endured 18 months of a mask mandate, weathered changes and disruptions to most co-curricular activities, and grappled with the need to be more flexible than ever before.

I am so thankful for how well the Wheaton Academy community has persevered during these difficult times.  Faculty and staff have worked harder and more creatively, parents have been even more generous with time, talent and treasure, and students have risen to meet standards unlike any we have seen in our modern era.

As we have shed the masks in recent weeks and move desks and classrooms back to their usual locations in the days ahead, it is essential to give thanks to God for His faithfulness to us in so many ways over the last two years—for overall health in our community, for in-person learning for the entire school year this year and last year, for record enrollment, and for generous financial support.

As the pandemic begins to fade, I wanted to mark this point in Wheaton Academy’s 168-year history and congratulate each of you for your determination and resilience over the last two years.  You have been an encouragement to me and to so many beyond our community. Well done!

God’s blessings to each of you as we continue to build on what He has taught us through adversity.

Soli Deo Gloria,
Steve Bult
Head of School

Wheaton Academy to Join New Conference in 2023-24
Wheaton Academy will be leaving the Metro Suburban Conference (MSC) in 2023-24. Current conference members announced they leaving the MSC for the Chicago Catholic League (CCL) after next year and we felt it was the right time to join together with other faith-based schools to form a new conference that better aligns with our mission. Beginning in the 2023-24 school year, we will be joining the newly formed Chicagoland Christian Conference (CCC). The conference will be home to nine total schools (eight for football):  Aurora Christian, Bishop McNamara, Chicago Christian, Chicago Hope Academy, Christ the King, Marian Central Catholic, St. Edward, Timothy Christian, and Wheaton Academy. The conference members will compete in over 20 IHSA sports and activities. We are extremely excited to maintain many long-standing rivalries and look forward to creating new matchups within the new conference.  The CCC will bring together faith-based schools from six counties around the Chicagoland area.  It will promote a balanced and competitive environment while placing a special emphasis on building the whole individual in mind, body, and spirit in glory to God.

For the 2022-23 school year the MSC will remain intact with the exception of Rosary, who will be joining the Greater Chicagoland Athletic Conference (GCAC). We look forward to finishing our last year as a member of the MSC but couldn’t be more excited for our participation in the Chicagoland Christian Conference for many years to come.

Preparing for the 2022-2023 school year: Returning Student Class Registration and Re-Enrollment Deposit
All parents of current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors need to complete two important steps to prepare for the next school year:

  • Pay a $175 re-enrollment deposit through OnCampus by February 28
  • Sign up and attend a class registration meeting after reviewing your student’s course recommendations. This year, we are hosting these Registrations Nights on February 28 and March 7, with select afternoon times on March 1-4.

Please review all of the instructions HERE for each of these important steps. Please reach out to Sheri Guarnizo (sguarnizo@wheatonacademy.org) regarding billing or Angie Roberts (aroberts@wheatonacademy.org) regarding registration if you have any questions.

You Are Needed!
We would love to have our dessert intermission for the musical return this year, however, without additional support, it may not happen.  Our intermission is such a great time for community fellowship and loved by everyone, so please consider helping out.  The dates are February 24, 25, & 26, and March 3, 4, & 5. We NEED about 12 people per show to make three dozen large cookies each. We also need volunteers to donate four pounds of grapes per show.  So, if you would like to bake your favorite cookie (your choice) or drop off grapes, please contact Jim Holtrop. Thanks for helping to make this event happen!

WA Appreciation Team
Our team is made of a group of parents who desire to encourage, bless, and appreciate our faculty and staff at two specific times during the year. During finals week in December and again with an Appreciation Luncheon in April to honor and thank everyone for a fantastic school year. It is only possible to provide these wonderful events on behalf of all families because of your generous gifts. We ask for sponsorship in the Fall for the Christmas event and in late Winter/early Spring for the Appreciation Luncheon. Thank you to the families who helped make December’s event possible.

We are now preparing and planning for the Spring Appreciation Luncheon. Might you consider sponsoring a Faculty/Staff member for the Appreciation Luncheon on April 22nd? Click here to sponsor and learn more details.

Re-Enrollment Deposits for the 2022-2023 School Year—NOW OPEN and Due February 28
As we prepare for the 2022-2023 academic year, we require all parents of current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to pay a re-enrollment deposit of $175 in February.

The process for paying the $175 has changed. Please follow the instructions here. Please refrain from using the Smart Tuition website log-in and only access Tuition Management through your OnCampus.

If you choose to opt-out for the 2022-2023 academic year and wish to no longer attend Wheaton Academy, please contact the Wheaton Academy Business Office in writing no later than February 28, 2022.

Host families of international students—you, nor your student’s parents, need to complete these steps as international students utilize a different re-enrollment process.  Please contact Sheri Guarnizo, Finance & Accounts Receivable Coordinator sguarnizo@wheatonacademy.org, if you have any questions.

Course Registration for Returning Students
On Monday, February 28, and Monday, March 7, we will host the Returning Student Registration Night.  Like last year, we are inviting students and parents to meet with a Wheaton Academy faculty or staff member for 20 minutes to register for classes for the 2021-22 school year.  In addition to registering for classes, students and parents will be able to have questions answered regarding the school’s suggestions for class registration.  This night’s purpose is to ensure that students and parents feel confident with the class choices being made for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year and ensure that students maximize the many opportunities for learning at Wheaton Academy.

On Wednesday, February 16, returning students will receive a presentation during advisory to hear about curricular updates and receive their course recommendations.  At that point, students will bring their recommended schedules home for review with their parents. This registration sheet should be brought to Registration Night to help guide the conversation with a Wheaton Academy faculty or staff member.

Time slots for registration on Monday, February 28 and Monday, March 7 will go from 1:00 – 9:00 p.m. We have also opened up some additional time slots in the afternoons of March 1, 2, 3, and 4.  Please sign up for registration by using the following links:

Monday, February 28
Tuesday, March 1 – Friday, March 4
Monday, March 7

If you are unable to make any of the times offered, you can schedule a time to meet with Angie Roberts, the school registrar, by emailing her at aroberts@wheatonacademy.org
