Todd Beamer Benefit Golf Outing
Stonebridge Country Club – September 9, 2024
Wheaton Academy’s 2024 Todd Beamer Benefit Golf Outing will return to Aurora’s beautiful and challenging Stonebridge Country Club. This event is held to remember the life of former WA student Todd Beamer ’87 and his heroic actions on 9/11.

New this year, we will offer morning and afternoon golf rounds, beginning at 7:30 am or 1:00 pm. In addition to golf, the day will include a grab-n-go breakfast, lunch, and dinner, followed by a brief awards presentation, and auction. Click here for additional information and to register!

2024-2025 Bell Schedule

Traffic Flow Explanation for Drop Off/Pick Up and Parking
We are re-introducing our two-way traffic pattern to our campus this year. You may enter and exit from both Hawthorne Road and Prince Crossing Road. Review the traffic flow map here.

If parents are dropping off or picking up, parents must enter from Hawthorne Ln. Follow the signs to access the drop zones in the Central Lot and along the main entrance of the Academic Building. Drop zones are marked in blue on this map.

If students are parking, they may enter from either entrance to park in the North and West Lots in their assigned parking spot.

Please note: Westbound Geneva Rd is closed west of Winfield Rd to replace the bridge over the DuPage River. If you are coming to school from the east, consider taking Jewel Rd or Winfield Rd to High Lake Road to avoid the closure. Alternate routes include taking Pleasant Hill Rd or County Farm Rd to North Ave.

New Parent Night Digital Resources
On Thursday, August 22 we hosted New Parent Night which was orientation for all Freshman and Transfer parents. We enjoyed hearing from leadership, meeting Parent Ambassadors, and creating connections within the school community before the start of the new year. If you were unable to attend, please refer to this page which reflects all the information and PowerPoint presented that night.

Please make sure your student checks their schedules before the first day of school as the order of their classes may have changed due to the balancing of classes.

Student Parking Registration
Online parking registration began on August 12, 2024. Starting on August 19 at 9:00 AM, students can pick up their parking decal and pick out their parking spot for the 2024-25 school year, provided their vehicle has been registered and the spot paid for. Textbook Acquisition for the 2024-2025 School Year
Families are responsible for purchasing or renting books for their student(s). Wheaton Academy has worked with our bookstore company, eCampus, to provide each family a convenient option to purchase or rent books.

Families can shop for each student’s books using eCampus’ “Shop by Schedule” option on their website. Then, eCampus will ship the purchased or rented books directly to each family’s home. Here are some important things to note:

All books must be shipped to your home, not Wheaton Academy.

Wheaton Academy Testing Dates
Wheaton Academy administers one standardized test each semester to students at no additional cost. Students are automatically registered for these tests! The testing schedule is as follows:

*Fall, 10/23 Grades 9-11: PSAT; Grade 12: ACT
*Spring, 4/16 Grades 9-10: PSAT; Grade 11: SAT; Grade 12: None

Life Coaching. Take advantage of this exciting new offering, which will provide John Maxwell certified coaching and curriculum to individuals who want to achieve their full potential, both personally and professionally. This offering is designed for upper-level high school students through adults. Customized coaching with free, thirty-minute phone consultations is available now while the program debuts! Student Success Coaching. Schedule a one-on-one student success coaching session to support your child’s academic and personal growth this school year. These offerings will be a game-changer for all levels of high school and college students who want to develop their executive functioning skills such as planning and prioritization, organization, time-management, and task initiation. Subject-Specific Coaching. Set your student up for a strong start to the school year with one-on-one academic coaching in any core subject area! Learning Center coaches provide high-level, individualized instruction that will support your student’s academic success this year.

Athletics

Athletic Passes
We are happy to announce again this year we will be providing to all Wheaton Academy families, faculty, and staff one athletics pass per household that will provide you and your family free entry into any regular season home sports game(s) for the 2024-25 season. Please stop by the athletics office any time M-F from 9:00 am-5:00 pm to pick up your pass.

We are also offering a digital version of the card this year, click here to download the digital card on GoFan. Both digital and physical cards will be accepted at the gate for free entry into a game.

SWIMMING at Wheaton Academy
Although Wheaton Academy does not have swimming practices, we do go to the Sectional Meet with students who practice and participate on club teams. Girls swimming is in the fall (sectional meet is usually the first Saturday in November) and Boys swimming is a winter sport (Sectional Meet is usually the 3^rd Saturday in February.) Summer Serve provides an opportunity to volunteer in a variety of capacities to make an impact on the presentation of our school facilities and help with projects that allow for a smooth transition into the fall. Host an International Student
The International Department is looking for families to host international students this fall. Hosting can be a wonderful experience to learn about other cultures and have a ministry as a family. Host families receive a monthly stipend and lots of support from our school. Summer Office Hours
Due to construction, Wheaton Academy’s office hours will be adjusted in the month of July.
July 1-12 the Academic Building will be closed. The summer receptionist is available Monday through Thursday 8:00 am-4:00 pm at Door 6 of the Heritage Field House.

There will not be a WA Weekly published next week on June 21. There will be an edition published on June 28. During most of July, the WA Weekly will not be published. It will resume on Friday, July 26.

Book Return for the 23-24 School Year
If you rented books from eCampus it is your responsibility to return your books.

Go to https://wheatonacademy.ecampus.com/. Select the Login/Sign Up button in the top right corner. Enter your login information (student’s walearner email) and click Sign In & Continue to access your account.
Once you have logged in to your account, select Manage My Rentals/Returns from the menu bar.
Select Return My Rental for Free.
Rental textbooks that are eligible for return will be displayed. Select the textbooks you would like to return, and click Print Label & Complete Return.
Print the prepaid UPS shipping label and packing slip. Once printed, place the packing slip in a box, making sure that the books are packed securely, and affix the UPS shipping label to the outside of the box. Take the package to your local UPS shipping location, and you’re done.

Session on College Application Process
During Summer Academy on Tuesday, June 25th, Mr. Ellison, Mr. Gregersen, and Mrs. Churchill will present introductory information about the college application process and how to write an admissions essay. The meeting will take place during summer school lunch, from 12:15 -1 pm in the Fine Arts Center. All senior students are invited to attend (even if they are not taking a summer school course).

New Traffic Pattern Now in Effect
The traffic flow returned to two-way in and out of the Prince Crossing and Hawthorne entrances; however, there is no through traffic across campus for June and July. Please join us this evening for a time of worship and prayer over our graduating seniors. Cap and gowns will not be worn during Baccalaureate however if you want to bring them for photo opportunities you are welcome to do so. A friend of Wheaton Academy, Molly Grace, is an amazing photographer and is offering FREE cap and gown pictures in front of the white Alumni Chapel before Baccalaureate from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Just walk over to the white chapel before the ceremony for photos. 2024 Commencement Ceremony
Sunday, June 2
3:00 p.m. (Doors open at 2:15 p.m)
Wheaton College, Edman Chapel
The commencement ceremony will be in Edman Chapel at Wheaton College. Seniors must arrive at 2:15 pm to line up outside in the Courtyard. There is no limit to seating for families and no tickets needed to attend. (This is not a production of Wheaton College).

Academic Building Closed June 5
Due to the construction, there will not be access to the Academic Building on Wednesday, June 5. As long as the construction plans progress as scheduled, the Academic Building will reopen on Thursday, June 6.

Book Return for the 23-24 School Year
If you rented books from eCampus it is your responsibility to return your books.

Go to https://wheatonacademy.ecampus.com/. Select the Login/Sign Up button in the top right corner. Enter your login information (student’s walearner email) and click Sign In & Continue to access your account.
Once you have logged in to your account, select Manage My Rentals/Returns from the menu bar.
Select Return My Rental for Free.
Rental textbooks that are eligible for return will be displayed. Select the textbooks you would like to return, and click Print Label & Complete Return.
Print the prepaid UPS shipping label and packing slip. Once printed, place the packing slip in a box, making sure that the books are packed securely, and affix the UPS shipping label to the outside of the box. Take the package to your local UPS shipping location, and you’re done.

Locker Cleanout
All lockers need to be cleared out of any books, clothes, personal items, etc. by Tuesday, June 4. After this date, all items found in lockers will be donated.

Laptop Return
Please remind your student that seniors must return their WA laptop, pen, and charger to the I.T. office before noon on Friday, May 31. Fees for missing or damaged items can be paid via PushCoin: pens are $30, a charger is $20, and the fee for damage is $150 (or $250 for a second occurrence). Please fund the PushCoin account accordingly. Thanks for your help in getting our incoming freshman class equipped for the start of their WA experience and congratulations on your senior’s achievement.

Traffic Pattern Changes on Campus Starting June 3
On June 3, construction accelerates to finish our campus expansion by the upcoming school year. The traffic flow returns to two-way in and out of the Prince Crossing and Hawthorne entrances; however, there is no through traffic across campus for June and July. See the map below for more information. Thank you in advance for your patience as you navigate campus and experience the implications of construction.

Yearbooks for Sale!
Yearbooks are now on sale through the Jostens website! Please follow this link to purchase a copy of the 2023-2024 yearbook! Parents of Seniors: If you would prefer to have the yearbook sent to your home instead of coming to campus to pick it up, there is now an option for that! Please select the home delivery option at checkout, and your yearbook will be sent directly to your home. Please note, that this is a senior-only option. All other grade levels will receive their yearbooks at school in the Fall.

The National Honor Society induction will be at this time, as well as many other large-group awards. This assembly is different than the Academy Awards in the evening. Academy Awards & Spring Art Show

This year’s Art Show will be available for viewing the entire week of May 20 in the Atrium. There will be a special reception at 6:30 in the Atrium before the Academy Awards begin where we will celebrate the gifts and accomplishments of our students during the 2023-2024 school year. All are welcome to attend. If your student will receive an award, you should have received a paper invitation in the mail.

Advanced Drama Show Tickets
We are incredibly excited about this year’s production of Into the Woods! This is the first time the Advanced Drama class has ever chosen a musical, and we anticipate that the show will be very popular. Accordingly, this year we are running online ticket sales, like what we do for the Spring Musical. This year you will be able to choose and reserve seats online through Eventbrite. June 4, 2024 (Commitment Day ????) is just around the corner—but we are still nearly $3 million away from our capital campaign goal.
