Second Semester Updated Guidance
We are excited to welcome students back on campus for the second semester next Wednesday, January 19, at 8:00 am.

Both the CDC and IDPH have recently updated the guidelines for isolation after a positive test. If a student has tested positive, they may return to school after five days if they have remained without symptoms or their symptoms are resolving. The priority is to have students back in class as soon as they are well.  To help make this possible; we ask our community to:

  • Notify our school nurse, Jenn Sezonov, when your student or family is dealing with a positive COVID test, and she will work with you to determine when your student may return to school.
  • Please continue to keep students home when they feel sick and have symptoms of any kind.

Please take a few minutes to review our updated health plan on the Wheaton Academy website – https://families.wheatonacademy.org/health/.

THANK YOU!
We are so grateful to our Wheaton Academy family for your support in helping us reach our end-of-year $100,000 matching gift goal. During the month of December, over 275 faithful partners gave a gift toward our goal. Thank you for your generosity in helping us achieve our mission of nurturing growth in students through relationships, excellence, and service to the glory of God.

Not to us, Lord, not to us but to Your name be the glory. Psalm 115:1

Timeshares for Teachers
We invite you to support our Living Curriculum Teachers through the Timeshare for Teachers program. Your generosity blesses many faculty and staff with a much-deserved vacation at little or no cost to them. To learn more visit Timeshares for Teachers – Wheaton Academy. It is our hope that we can continue or begin a partnership with you to provide the use of a privately owned vacation home, vacation package, or airline miles for use during 2022.

New Law Enforcement and Medical Emergency Response System
We are very excited to share with you that Wheaton Academy partnered with BluePoint Alert Solutions and has installed an instant alert system that allows for automatic emergency notifications and faster response times to police and medical first responders. Throughout our school buildings, new Police and Medical pulls have been installed, which, when activated, will initiate immediate communications with the police or medical personnel and set off strobe lights, a public announcement through our PA speakers, and alert leadership at the school.  The system is integrated with our comprehensive security camera system and provides first responders with increased situational awareness for potential or active threats. BluePoint Alert does for law enforcement or EMS what a fire alarm does for the fire department. https://bluepointalert.com/

Students were introduced to this system and its functionality during their advisory time Wednesday, September 1.

Should you have questions about this system and how it works, please contact Vice Principal Erin Carwell at ecarwell@wheatonacademy.org

Our first lunch will be Friday, September 17, and we could certainly use your help!

Book Rentals for 2021-2022 – Textbook Acquisition Form in Magnus
For the 2021-2022 school year, each family will be required to indicate whether they wish to OPT-IN to ALL ACCESS and have Wheaton Academy place the book rental orders for them or OPT-OUT and purchase/rent all books on their own. This Textbook Acquisition Form is located with all the other Back-to-School forms in Magnus. The textbook form needs to be completed by July 26, 2021. Your family will automatically be placed in the OPT-IN category if the form is not completed by July 26, and your Smart Tuition account will be billed in September.  You must complete the form for each student who is enrolled. Please contact Jenn Trott with any questions.

Book Lists for Families who OPT-OUT
If you choose to OPT-OUT of Wheaton Academy purchasing your book order for you and plan to rent/buy your own books, the book lists for courses are available on our website. You will need to click on the eCampus Bookstore link. Once you get to the bookstore, go to the Sign-in button under My Account. Your login is your student’s wascholar email (i.e., firstname.lastname@wascholar.org), and you will need to click “forgot my password” to begin. You may then search for course names to see which books are needed for your student’s schedule. You do not need to rent/buy the books from eCampus. However, this is the location where you will find the books for each course. Please remember to complete the Textbook Acquisition Form by July 26, 2021, to avoid being charged a second time for books. Important Note: You need to rent/purchase all books listed even if they are listed as Optional. The Optional reference is an internal note for the book company, not for our families to think the books are optional. Please contact Jenn Trott if you have questions.

OnCampus Login Changes Coming July 8
Parents, on July 8, you should have received an email from wheatonacademy@myschoolapp.com to change your OnCampus login.  The email provides an invitation to create a Blackbaud ID, or you will be prompted to re-register at your next login attempt.  OnCampus remains the same; it is only your login password that will need to be reset.

COVID-19 Case Update
Over the last week, we had no positive cases for COVID-19, and no one is currently in quarantine.

Face Masks for Summer Academy
To bring clarity to some confusion on masks/face coverings in Wheaton Academy buildings for Summer Academy, we recommend that while inside our buildings, families adhere to the current CDC guidelines that recommend face coverings for those not vaccinated.  As we enter Phase 5 in Illinois this week, we will no longer be enforcing the indoor mask mandate, but desks will still be positioned 6 feet apart.  We suggest that families make the choice they feel is currently best for their students when it comes to wearing a mask.   Students should know that there may be times when masks are required in certain areas, and we would ask that they comply with this direction when it arises. Thank you again for your partnership.
