Many young people are asking the question, “What does the Bible really say about these issues?” Students want to know the truth and how to receive and extend grace as they interact with their friends and culture. 11:45 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. – Afternoon Courses
Winterim classes begin on Monday, January 8. Students may see which courses they are taking and classroom locations in OnCampus. Here are a few things about Winterim:

-There is no late start on Wednesdays during Winterim. All classes begin at 8:00 am every day.
-The dress code remains in effect.
-Students are welcome to bring a lunch from home, but we will have our usual lunch menu available for purchase. There will not be soup or salad bar during Winterim.
-Due to the concentrated framework of Winterim, consistent attendance is very important. This year, Winterim is only nine days long. Even one class missed is a significant absence and may result in no credit being awarded for the class. Winterim credits are required toward graduation credit.

PSAT Results
Dear Wheaton Academy Families,
This past October many of our students participated in the PSAT suite of assessments offered by the College Board. These tests help us monitor student growth and progress over time and can provide both us and you with insight into areas of strength and growth for your student.  We are happy to let you know that test results are available for viewing and can be accessed through your student’s College Board profile. (studentscores.collegeboard.org ).

The College Board implemented a new test format this year; all PSAT Fall testing was completed digitally, and the updated format allowed for test redesign. College Board piloted these changes, and they are confident that the scores on the new tests are comparable to previous assessments. We will keep you informed of any new information that becomes available as they analyze the results from this fall.

As you access and seek to understand test results, please let us know if you have questions.  You can reach out to Vice Principal Brad Thornton (bthornton@wheatonacademy.org) with questions.

Thank you,
Brad Thornton

Financial Aid Applications are Now Open — Returning Families Deadline of December 31
The financial aid process at Wheaton Academy is officially open for the 2024-2025 school year. Like last year, the deadline for a returning family’s financial aid application for the 2024-2025 school year is December 31, 2023.  This timeline allows Wheaton Academy to grant aid awards to returning families before new family aid awards are considered, as over 80% of our financial aid awards are distributed in February.

Like last year, we have partnered with the financial aid processing company—Blackbaud Financial Aid. This portal better integrates with the internal systems Wheaton Academy already uses, making it an easier process for both you and our staff.

Click here to log into your Blackbaud Financial Aid account and begin your application: Blackbaud Financial Aid. Please read additional information and further instructions here.

If you have specific questions regarding your application and how to upload your required documentation, we recommend you contact Blackbaud Financial Aid Customer Service directly: 800-360-8027 or financialaidsupport@blackbaud.school.  Their service is completely confidential.

If you have any other questions, please contact Pat Brooke in the Business Office at aid@wheatonacademy.org.

Timeshare for Teachers
We are beginning to gather vacation opportunities for the Summer of 2024. Click here to learn about our Timeshares for Teachers program. If you have a timeshare, a privately-owned vacation home, vacation packages, or airline miles, we invite you, as a friend and supporter, to provide our faculty and staff a much-deserved vacation at little or no cost to them. This partnership is a direct opportunity for our teachers and staff and is not a donation to the Academy. We will put you in touch with the teacher who selects your property, and you will work directly with them to make all arrangements. The process for vacation selection by teachers begins in January. Please fill out the Timeshare Participation Form by December 1.

College Corner

A Note from Kahn Academy
Starting this year, the College Board has begun transitioning the SAT from a traditional paper-and-pencil test format to a digital version.

In response to the paper test retiring in December 2023, we will be retiring Official SAT Practice, which we built to prepare learners for that version of the test. But don’t worry, we’re still here to support learners for the new digital SAT! Going forward, learners preparing for the digital SAT can answer practice questions and get helpful tips in our Official Digital SAT Math and Official Digital SAT Reading and Writing courses.

But since we are discontinuing Official SAT Practice, we want to make sure that its users have the opportunity to save their progress and reports. We recommend screenshotting, printing, or downloading any Official SAT Practice data in your Khan Academy account that you wish to save before December 31st, 2023, after which the data will no longer be accessible. You can find more information in this support article.

Thank you for your understanding and your trust in Khan Academy. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Support team. Best regards,
The Khan Academy team
