Sophomore Class Ring Assembly
On Wednesday, September 11, the sophomores will meet in the FAC during Advisory (10:35 – 11:05 a.m.) for a class ring assembly. A representative from Jostens will be present to review all of the different options available for our students and pass out packets with the information. Following the assembly on Friday, September 13 and Thursday, September 19, Jostens representatives will return to take orders.

Be sure to ask your students about it!

Parents Please Sign-in for Chapel
Parents are welcome to attend chapel on Tuesdays and Fridays. We ask that if you plan to attend, that you first come to the front office, sign-in our visitor’s log, and get a name tag. Thanks in advance for your help with this.

Parking Permits
Just a reminder that if students are driving to school, they need a parking permit to park on campus. They may complete this link, then see Ms. Carwell in Service Services to pay the $75 fee and get their permit.

Upperclassman Privileges
Junior and Senior Privileges began immediately at the beginning of the school year. Please contact Ms. Carwell if you have any questions. The privileges, as described in the Student Handbook, are as follows:

  • Junior Privileges – Junior privileges are in place to prepare students for the responsibilities and privileges of being an upperclassman. These privileges go into effect at the discretion of the administration, typically at the beginning of the school year. The continuation of junior privileges depends upon the overall ability of the class members to accept the responsibilities that necessarily go along with the additional privilege. Misconduct or academic ineligibility will result in the revoking of these privileges. Junior privileges include going off campus for lunch on combined lunch days and parking in any student-designated parking lot.
  • Senior Privileges – Senior privileges go into effect at the discretion of the administration, typically at the beginning of the school year. The continuation of senior privileges depends upon the ability of the class members to accept the responsibilities that necessarily go along with the additional privilege. Misconduct or academic ineligibility will result in the revoking of senior privileges. Senior privileges include parking in any student-designated parking lot, going off campus on all combined lunch days, going off campus after signing in for Study Hall, preferred seating in chapel, and the opportunity to participate in the senior trip.

Annual Asbestos Notice – September 2019
This notice meets a legal requirement to inform you annually that Wheaton Academy continues to meet all federal and state laws concerning asbestos in schools.  All of our educational facilities have been thoroughly inspected, and inspections continue bi-annually by a state-certified asbestos firm, as is required by law.  We continue to carry out all other specific requirements of the “AHERA” legislation, including the maintenance of a management plan.  Our management plan is available for your review in the business office located in the Armour building during normal business hours.  We welcome your questions and input as we continue to meet the necessary requirements and seek to implement any necessary precautions.

Health Office Hours
The Health Office hours are from 10:00 a.m.-3:15 p.m. While there is a registered nurse on campus for emergencies, the school nurse will not arrive and be available to dispense medicine until 10:00 a.m. If your student is feeling ill in the morning, please consider keeping him/her home. Please also partner with us in communicating this with your students.

Nut-Aware Campus
Due to the many students at Wheaton Academy that are severely allergic to peanuts and or tree nuts, our campus has adopted guidelines to help all of our students be safe at school. Nuts/tree nuts are only allowed to be eaten at a group of marked tables in the commons during lunch. All other areas are nut-free. This applies to after school snacks for athletic teams as well. Thank you for reminding your students and remembering as you pack lunches and bring snacks to school.

LAUNCH
Families won’t want to miss LAUNCH on October 3 (Thursday of Homecoming) from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Wheaton Academy. Essentially—we are planning a big tailgate before the Varsity football game for everyone—families and students! This is an opportunity to raise money for the children we support in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. We need food donations as well as parent volunteers to help serve. Please click here to sign-up for donation and/or to serve. Any questions? Ask Ms. Johnson at kjohnson@wheatonacademy.org.
