Kingdom Community Parent Meeting
Wednesday, September 15
7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
All parents are invited to our first Kingdom Community parent meeting Wednesday, September 15 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the Commons. At the heart of our Kingdom Community initiative is a desire to celebrate the truth that we are all created in God’s image and are called to reflect his kingdom in our relationships here on earth. We want every student and family to feel a sense of belonging and to contribute to the mission of WA and God’s greater Kingdom work in our school and throughout the world. Join us as we share the vision, build community, and pray for our students.

All Women of Wheaton Academy are invited to participate in WA Women’s prayer. We meet weekly; however, we invite you to attend as your schedule allows – from week to week, month to month….we want you to feel welcome to come and pray whenever time allows! The dates for September are:

Over the past two weeks, we have had four positive cases at Wheaton Academy. Thank you all for your diligence in helping to keep our school safe.
Inspirational Article on 9/11
This weekend, as we remember the sobering and tragic events of September 11, 2001, this Wall Street Journal article is a powerful reminder of how God uses His people in the midst of all types of circumstances. This article highlights former WA student, Todd Beamer’s heroic actions aboard Flight 93 on that fateful morning. 20 years later, such courage continues to inspire.
Today is the last day to sign up for Guy’s Campout! All guys are invited to our Guys Campout Weekend, September 24-26. If you are interested please contact Sean McCallum or fill out the application here: https://forms.gle/rfyHj26rqmYEna296
New Law Enforcement and Medical Emergency Response System
We are very excited to share with you that Wheaton Academy partnered with BluePoint Alert Solutions and has installed an instant alert system that allows for automatic emergency notifications and faster response times to police and medical first responders. Throughout our school buildings, new Police and Medical pulls have been installed, which, when activated, will initiate immediate communications with the police or medical personnel and set off strobe lights, a public announcement through our PA speakers, and alert leadership at the school. The system is integrated with our comprehensive security camera system and provides first responders with increased situational awareness for potential or active threats. BluePoint Alert does for law enforcement or EMS what a fire alarm does for the fire department. https://bluepointalert.com/
Students were introduced to this system and its functionality during their advisory time Wednesday, September 1.
Should you have questions about this system and how it works, please contact Vice Principal Erin Carwell at firstname.lastname@example.org
Donations and Volunteers Needed
Project Lead Global is hosting a Homecoming family tailgate fundraiser before the Thursday night football game on October 7 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. All proceeds raised will go towards the 24 vulnerable children Wheaton Academy sponsors in the DR and Haiti through Kids Alive International. We are looking for donations of food and supplies and parent volunteers to help assist in preparing and serving the food and helping with clean up. Please click here to sign up to donate and/or serve.
Senior Trip Fund Raiser Lunches
We are happy to announce that our taco salad lunches will be returning. These bi-monthly lunches help offset the senior trip costs each year. If you are willing to help serve, donate, bake goods, or help in any way, please contact Jim Holtrop. You do not need to be a senior parent!!
Our first lunch will be Friday, September 17, and we could certainly use your help!
Senior Ads for Yearbooks
Parents, senior yearbook ads will again be available for purchase this year for $150 per quarter-page ad. If you order a senior ad, you do not need to order a yearbook through the Jostens website as that fee is included in the $150. The deadline for the ads is March 12. Ads can be sent to email@example.com. A check payable to Wheaton Academy may be sent to the attention of Jim Holtrop in the front office. You may click here for an example of the ad size and layout. The yearbook staff will gladly design the ad for you if you send in the photo images and text!
Senior Picture Options
Lifetouch will be available at Wheaton Academy to have senior pictures taken on September 16 & 17, from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Please make an appointment by either calling Lifetouch at 630-910-6800 option five or go online at prestigeappointment.com, create an account, select our school, and follow the prompts to book an appointment.
You may choose to use a different source for your yearbook picture or send in one of your own. Images may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. The photos need to be submitted by March 12 to be included in the yearbook publication. We require a forward-facing portrait taken from the shoulders up, with a plain background. Click here for examples.
