Dear Parents of Wheaton Academy 2027 Seniors,
It is hard to believe we are nearing the end of another school year while already preparing for the next. We are excited to see how God will work through this senior class as they lead, serve, and shape the culture of Wheaton Academy.
We are writing to share initial details about the Senior Trip (March 10–14, 2027) before summer begins. The purpose of the trip is to hear from the Lord, build community, deepen relationships, and prepare students to finish their time at Wheaton Academy well. This experience is a hallmark of the senior year, and we strongly encourage every student to participate. While academic achievement is important, we believe growth in Christ and Christ-centered community are among the most meaningful outcomes of a student’s high school experience.
Recent graduates consistently describe the senior trip as one of the most impactful parts of their time at Wheaton Academy. As you plan for the 2026–27 school year, we ask that you prioritize this experience in your family budget. If cost is a concern, please contact Jim Holtrop, we will do our best to help make participation possible for all students.
This year’s trip will take place at Realife Retreat in Vero Beach, Florida. Students will participate in large- and small-group sessions, with Brad Thornton teaching God’s Word and Brian Hogan leading worship. The schedule also includes time for reflection, relationship-building, and activities such as swimming, biking, kayaking, paintball, basketball, art, and more. The trip will also include one day at Universal Studios in Orlando.
Payment
The total cost is $1,900 per student, which includes airfare, lodging, park admission, all activities, and meals.
Payments will be made in three non-refundable installments:
- August 7, 2026: $750 deposit
- October 2, 2026: $600
- November 20, 2026: $550
Payments will be processed through Managed Missions. You will receive a future email with setup instructions. Please note that while the platform uses terms like “donations” and “fundraising,” these payments are not tax-deductible. For payment questions, contact Jenn Trott at jtrott@wheatonacademy.org.
Trip Insurance
To keep costs as low as possible, trip insurance is not included. If desired, you may purchase insurance separately through Wanderwell (see Travel Insurance Sample Content resource page). We recommend considering CFAR (Cancel for Any Reason) insurance if there is uncertainty about your student’s participation For insurance cost and to enroll, please use this link.
Proof of Identification
Students who will be 18 at the time of travel must have either an Illinois REAL ID or a valid passport to board a domestic flight. Please arrange this as soon as possible if needed. Copies of student IDs will be collected in January.
Student Travel Policies
Please review the attached travel policy before committing. Students must be in good academic, behavioral, and health standing to participate.
We look forward to a meaningful and memorable Senior Trip that will be a highlight of your students’ Wheaton Academy experience.
Sincerely,
James Holtrop
