From the Principal's Desk
Dear Wheaton Academy Parents,
We are so excited to begin the 2022-2023 school year. I have been grateful for time this summer to spend with my parents and family, to root for the New York Yankees, and to try to improve my golf game among other things. Now, I am ready for our students to return to Wheaton Academy for our school year together.
This year, the year verses are Psalm 37:23-24, “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”
I am praying that our students’ hearts would be fully focused on the Gospel this year, and they would experience the delight, provision, and love of Jesus Christ as they obey, serve, love, and follow Him this year.
Where to Find Information
The beginning of the year is filled with much information, and I wanted to do my best to summarize a few of our focus areas and changes for the upcoming year.
The best place for all the information you will need to begin the school year well is here on our website for Wheaton Academy families: families.wheatonacademy.org
On this website, you will find the calendar, bell schedules, and other back to school checklists for you as we begin the year.
One note, school begins Wednesday August 24, and we will have three SEVEN period days during the first week to allow for us to meet with students and build community through assemblies, advisory groups, and Chapel. Those bell schedules can be found here.
New Cell Phone Policy
This summer, the Lord challenged me to re-evaluate our school’s continued commitment to help students focus—on their studies, on their relationships, and on Jesus Christ. This year, we have made a change to our cell phone policy to help mitigate the distraction technology can cause.
Please be aware that students will not have access to their cell phones during class and during Chapel. In each classroom, we will have a secure area for students to store their cell phones. We hope this change will help students focus, thrive, and learn without distraction.
Other Important Notes
- Our Parent/Student Handbook can be found here.
Please look at our expectations for how students dress coming to school as we want them to reflect both modesty and professionalism. Thank you in advance for ensuring your student comes to school on day one meeting the expectations articulated on pages 24-25 of the handbook. - Finally, we want to invite you to our Back-to-School Worship night, Wednesday, August 24th at 7 pm. This night is for your student and your family.
If you have any questions as we begin the school year, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Jenn Trott (jtrott@wheatonacademy.org) is a great first contact who will help you find the best person to answer your question.
Throughout the summer, we have been preparing and praying for the school year ahead. We are expectant at the way God will use our students, teachers, and community to build his Kingdom this year. Thanks for your partnership, support, and prayers for our students and faculty in the year ahead.
Blessings,
Kori Hockett
