Spiritual Life Week
“Keep Hoping” Hebrews 10:23
February 8-12, 2021

We’re excited for spiritual life week next week. Our theme is “Keep Hoping,” which is drawn from our week verse Hebrews 10:23. “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.” In addition to daily chapels, there are some morning events to be aware of. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings at 7:15 is “The Worship Room” in the FAC auditorium. This is a time of music and prayer led by our worship team and Project LEAD Chapel team, giving students time to begin the day seeking God. Thursday morning at 8:15 is a prayer breakfast. Students can pick up food in the Atrium then gather in the Commons and Library for a time of directed prayer for our school led by our Project LEAD Chapel and Discipleship teams. Please be in prayer that God would move in power among our community during this special week. Please click here for the week’s bell schedule.

Junior Leadership Academy

Saturday, March 6, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Project LEAD is comprised of seven teams that serve in various capacities on our campus, in our communities, and throughout the world. To be eligible for application to Project LEAD, interested juniors are required to attend the mandatory Junior Leadership Academy, designed to teach leadership principles and concepts to prepare them for being a part of Project LEAD. Due to the current limitations we have with gathering and the need for social distance,  we are offering Junior Leadership Academy via Zoom to accommodate student and family schedules this year. Students should check in OnCampus for a message from Mr. Bowling and the zoom link.

General News

COVID-19 Update
Over the last week, we have had one individual test positive for COVID-19, and there is one person in quarantine. We have followed the same protocols, contacting those who have been in close contact with any positive individual, instructing them to quarantine at home for the appropriate time. We appreciate your continued vigilance and look forward to continuing on-campus, in-person instruction and discipleship with your support of these protocols.

Enrollment Contract & Deposit for 2021-2022
As we prepare for the 2021-2022 academic year, we will require all current Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors to re-sign the Enrollment Contract not later than February 28, 2021.  The Enrollment Contract will be available for review and signature via your Magnus account in the second week of February.  Please download the contract, sign, then upload via Magnus.  All families who have completed the enrollment contact will be billed the re-enrollment deposit of $175 to your 2020-2021 Smart Tuition account, which will be due within 25 days to continue your student’s enrollment for the coming Academic year (late fees will apply).  This re-enrollment deposit will be applied to the 2020-2021 tuition bill.  (Please include the Smart Tuition ID number from the invoice when remitting payment outside of Smart Tuition.)

Calendar Update
We work each month to analyze and revise our current school calendar based on the changing COVID guidelines. The current 2020-21 school is up-to-date through April 17 of this school year. You may access the calendar on our website by clicking here.

Pushcoin
Parents – we have a page on our website which provides information regarding ordering lunches, how to use Pushcoin, and how to receive a refund if your student is absent. Please click this link if you need any information regarding lunch at Wheaton Academy.

Parents of WA Student Drivers
To maintain safety on our campus, all student drivers should have at least one of the cars they drive to school registered and a current parking permit hanging from the rearview mirror for easy identification.  We will continue to monitor the parking lots and make sure we can identify each car parked on our campus has a valid parking permit.  Please make sure your student’s parking permit is current and has been paid. This will save many students from having to park off campus for not having a valid parking permit.  If there are any questions, please contact Kermit Ellison at kellison@wheatonacademy.org.  If you need to register your child’s car and get a parking permit, register by clicking this link.

Athletics

We are happy to announce that we have been given the” green light” to begin boys and girls basketball, so tryouts have begun with games to follow soon.  We are following the COVID guidelines, and the Athletic Department is excited to see sports return!

This being said – In-person learners can only participate in co-curriculars if they are in school that day.  Virtual learners working with Ms. Carwell may participate in after-school co-curriculars. If your student arrives for any after-school sports activity,  it is imperative that he/she self-certifies on the Magnus app BEFORE attending the activity. If students don’t self-certify, they will not be able to participate in the practice/game for that day. For questions regarding the app, please contact our school nurse Jenn Sezonov, jsezonov@wheatonacademy.org.

Also, now that sports are beginning to ramp up, your student needs an updated sports physical and the athletic packet completed and uploaded onto Magnus in order for your child to participate on their sports team.  Dawn Hamm, the Administrative Assistant in the athletic office, will be notifying you if your child needs a new physical or has not completed his/her athletic packet.  She will be emailing you from the Magnus website, so please make sure to look at emails from Magnus.
