Study Halls for 2019-2020
A letter was emailed home today to all families with students in grades 9-11 regarding Study Hall. You may click here to read it.

Volunteers
Wheaton Academy needs you! Whatever your time constriction or skill set, we need your help. Please click here for a list of volunteer opportunities where you can become a part of our community and help make our events amazing! Volunteer forms can be sent into the front office or emailed to Jim Holtrop at jholtrop@wheatonacademy.org. Thank you for volunteering!

Quiz Bowl
If your son or daughter enjoys trivia, learning, playing games, fellowship, and having fun, he/she should consider joining Quiz Bowl!  We practice Mondays during lunch and Tuesdays from 3:15-5:00 p.m. in Academy Hall room 119 and eventually play schools on Tuesdays, along with an occasional Saturday tournament.  For more information, contact Evan Jasper or 630-562-7560.

Measles Prevention Update from the DuPage County Health Department
There has been an ongoing increase in measles cases in the U.S. across several states (including Illinois), largely due to cases among persons from the U.S. and abroad who were either unvaccinated or with unknown vaccination status.  Due to the presence of measles in our region, we would like to make you aware of important and timely prevention measures to help keep our schools and childcare centers safe, open, and operational. Please click here to read this important letter from the DuPage County Health Department.  Measles Schools and Child Care Centers Letter

Important Details if Your Family OPTED-IN for Books:

  • Please verify all books received are correct for the corresponding courses your student is currently registered for.
  • If schedules have changed within the last few weeks and you have received a book you no longer need, your family will still be responsible for returning all books at the end of the school year, even books from dropped classes. If your student’s books have changed, you have two options:
  1. You may hold on to the book (Don’t lose it or forget about it!) and return the book at the end of the year, or
  2. You may give the book with you student name listed on the book to Jenn Trott, and she will return it immediately.
  • We can serve you better knowing you didn’t receive a book at the beginning of the school year rather than finding out at the end of the school year so please let Jenn Trott know if you are missing a book.

Mozart and Muffins
To all singers and instrumentalists: Interested in sharing your musical gifts in a relaxed, warm environment of a WA family’s living room?  Mozart and Muffins is the perfect venue!  After a wonderful start to our community house concerts last year, we are giving you an opportunity to start early this fall. The first M & M is Saturday, September 7 at 7:30 p.m. If you are interested in performing, email Mrs. Westerfield. Include your name, the title, and composer of your piece and the timed length.

Health Office Hours
The Health Office hours are from 10:00 a.m.-3:15 p.m. While there is a registered nurse on campus for emergencies, the school nurse will not arrive and be available to dispense medicine until 10:00 a.m. If your student is feeling ill in the morning, please consider keeping him/her home. Please also partner with us in communicating this with your students.

Nut-Aware Campus
Due to the many students at Wheaton Academy that are severely allergic to peanuts and or tree nuts, our campus has adopted guidelines to help all of our students be safe at school. Nuts/tree nuts are only allowed to be eaten at a group of marked tables in the commons during lunch. All other areas are nut-free. This applies to after school snacks for athletic teams as well. Thank you for reminding your students and remembering as you pack lunches and bring snacks to school.

LAUNCH
Families won’t want to miss LAUNCH on October 3 (Thursday of Homecoming) from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Wheaton Academy. Essentially—we are planning a big tailgate before the Varsity football game for everyone—families and students! This is an opportunity to raise money for the children we support in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. We need food donations as well as parent volunteers to help serve. Please click here to sign-up for donation and/or to serve. Any questions? Ask Ms. Johnson at kjohnson@wheatonacademy.org.
