General News

Human Resources Update
After seven years of faithfully serving Wheaton Academy as The Director of Development, Joy Crowe will retire at the end of the 2023-2024 school year. Joy has done outstanding work in helping us maximize the Illinois Invest in Kids Program, growing our Warrior Fund, and launching the For Generations to Come campaign. Over the last seven years, Joy has built a strong Development Team that has WA poised for the years ahead. In short, Joy’s steady and consistent approach has done so much to strengthen our financial footing in recent years. Most importantly, Joy has always made it clear that every good and perfect gift is from our Lord Jesus Christ.

While we are saddened to say goodbye to Joy, we are thrilled to introduce you to our new Director of Development, Mr. Doug Hardy. Doug is a familiar face around Wheaton Academy. He is Wendy’s husband, who has worked at WA for over 13 years. Doug and Wendy are the parents of three recent graduates: Sam ’14 (Eaden Bond ’14), Owen ’18, and Anne Camille ’19 (Ben Thorson ‘19), and proud grandparents of Abel and Norris. Doug is excited to embark on this career change, bringing with him years of law experience, “Wheaton Academy has had a profound impact on my family. I consider it a blessing to be allowed to serve the school community and families as Director of Development. I believe deeply in the mission of Wheaton Academy and am honored by the opportunity to make my love for it tangible to others.” Doug will begin his role this summer.

Please join us in praying for both Joy and Doug in their upcoming transitions.

Annual Asbestos Notice – 2024
This notice meets a legal requirement to inform you annually that Wheaton Academy continues to meet all federal and state laws concerning asbestos in schools.  All of our educational facilities have been thoroughly inspected, and inspections continue bi-annually by a state-certified asbestos firm, as is required by law.  We continue to carry out all other specific requirements of the “AHERA” legislation, including the maintenance of a management plan.  Our management plan is available for your review in the business office located in the Armour building during normal business hours.  We welcome your questions and input as we continue to meet the necessary requirements and seek to implement any necessary precautions.

WA Appreciation Team
Allow us to introduce ourselves. We are the WA Appreciation Team, a group of parent volunteers who plan, organize, and host two events during the school year for teachers and staff. These events help express our gratitude for all the ways teachers and staff not only teach, but inspire, nurture, and guide our kids throughout the school year. The WA Appreciation Team manages these events on behalf of ALL Wheaton Academy families and represents our collective gratitude. Click here for more details on the WA Appreciation Team.

We are planning for our second event, in April, where we serve the entire Wheaton Academy faculty and staff with an appreciation luncheon. This year the event will take place on Friday, April 26. This event is funded solely through contributions from the school community (which are completely optional and not tax-deductible). Click here to give
