General News

Returning Student Registration Night
On Monday, March 1, and Monday, March 8, we will host the Returning Student Registration Night.  Like last year, we will allow students and parents to meet with a Wheaton Academy faculty or staff member for 20 minutes to register for classes for the 2021-22 school year.  In addition to registering for classes, students and parents will be able to have questions answered regarding the school’s suggestions for class registration.  This night’s purpose is to ensure that students and parents feel confident with the class choices being made for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year and ensure that students maximize the many opportunities for learning at Wheaton Academy.

On Monday, February 22, returning students will receive a presentation during advisory to hear about curricular updates and new courses and receive their course recommendations.  At that point, students will bring their recommended schedules home for review with parents. This registration sheet should be brought to Registration Night to help guide the conversation with a Wheaton Academy faculty or staff member.

Time slots for registration on Monday, March 1 and Monday, March 8will go from 1:00 – 9:00 p.m. Please sign up for registration by clicking this link: Registration Night Signups

FAQs

Q: What if we are unable to come to Returning Student Registration Night?
A: That’s OK!  We will collect the recommendation worksheet in Advisory on Monday, March 15, if you cannot come to Registration Night.  Shortly after collecting the recommendation worksheet, a member of the student services staff will find a time to meet with all students unable to attend Registration Night to sign up students for classes.  These meetings will happen before Spring Break.

Q: What if my student is going to be a freshman? Can we come to this night?
A: We can register incoming freshmen on this night; however, incoming students need to have already taken the placement test to have accurate placement recommendations.  The first date for the placement test is on Saturday, February 22, from 8:00-11:30 a.m.  If you have an incoming freshman student, you can register for the placement test here: Freshman Placement Test

Q: Do Parents AND Students need to be present to complete registration?
A: No.  Ideally, we would like both parents and students to be a part of the conversation on Registration Night, but we know that scheduling conflicts exist.  Either parents OR students can come for registration on March 1 or March 8.

Q: What if we can’t make it that night but would still like to meet with Student Services to discuss my student’s recommendations?
A: You can schedule a time to meet with Angie Roberts, the school registrar, by emailing her at aroberts@wheatonacademy.org

COVID-19 Update
Over the last week, we have had three individuals test positive for COVID-19, and there are five people in quarantine. We have followed the same protocols, contacting those who have been in close contact with any positive individual, instructing them to quarantine at home for the appropriate time. We appreciate your continued vigilance and look forward to continuing on-campus, in-person instruction and discipleship with your support of these protocols.

Kingdom Community Parent Meetings
We’re excited to be hosting our Kingdom Community Parent meetings again this semester and hope you’ll join us for these important times of prayer and discussion. With Biblical Kingdom teaching as our foundation, we aspire to be a community that expresses genuine love for one another and celebrates each individual’s unique gifts. Parents, if you would like more information on meeting dates and how you can get involved, contact our Dean of Chapel and Spiritual Formation, Brian Hogan.

Enrollment Contract & Deposit for 2021-2022
Last Friday, we notified parents via email of the requirement to sign a new Enrollment Contract via Magnus Health accounts.  Yesterday, parents should have a received an email from Magnus stating that there were pending requirements that have not yet been completed.  This email auto-generated, and we are sorry that it was confusing as it had language more relevant for the beginning of the school year.

Nonetheless, we are using the Magnus Health application to gather your signature for this new Enrollment Contract.   We do need your immediate attention to sign the Enrollment Contract should you intend to return to Wheaton Academy next year.  The Enrollment Contract is available for review and signature via your Magnus account now, and it is due by or before February 28, 2021.   Please download the contract, sign, then upload via Magnus.  All families who have completed the enrollment contract will be billed the re-enrollment deposit of $175 to your Smart Tuition account on March 1, which will be due within 25 days to continue your student’s enrollment next Academic year (late fees will apply).  This re-enrollment deposit payment will be applied to the 2021-2022 tuition bill.  (Please include the Smart Tuition ID number from the invoice when remitting payment outside of your Smart Tuition account.)

If you choose to opt-out for the 2021-2022 academic year, please contact Patrick Brooke, our Controller, at pbrooke@wheatonacademy.org or Sheri Guarnizo, Finance & Accounts Receivable Coordinator sguarnizo@wheatonacademy.org in the Wheaton Academy Business Office in writing no later than February 28, 2021, to avoid being billed the re-enrollment deposit.  Re-enrollment deposits are non-refundable, so should you notify us of your student’s withdrawal for the 2021-2022 academic year after February 28, 2021the re-enrollment deposit payment will be applied to your final month’s tuition bill for the current academic year.

Please, if you have any questions, please contact Patrick Brooke or Sheri Guarnizo.

Calendar Update
We work each month to analyze and revise our current school calendar based on the changing COVID guidelines. The current 2020-21 school is up-to-date through April 17 of this school year. You may access the calendar on our website by clicking here.

Pushcoin
Parents – we have a page on our website which provides information regarding ordering lunches, how to use Pushcoin, and how to receive a refund if your student is absent. Please click this link if you need any information regarding lunch at Wheaton Academy.

Parents of WA Student Drivers
To maintain safety on our campus, all student drivers should have at least one of the cars they drive to school registered and a current parking permit hanging from the rearview mirror for easy identification.  We will continue to monitor the parking lots and make sure we can identify each car parked on our campus has a valid parking permit.  Please make sure your student’s parking permit is current and has been paid. This will save many students from having to park off campus for not having a valid parking permit.  If there are any questions, please contact Kermit Ellison at kellison@wheatonacademy.org.  If you need to register your child’s car and get a parking permit, register by clicking this link.

Athletics

Game Attendance for Warrior Fans
Due to COVID-19 and IHSA regulations, Wheaton Academy will adhere to the following policies for all home games:

  • Two family members per player, per game, will be permitted to attend a game. If a student plays in both the JV and the Varsity games, we ask that the two individuals exit the gym as soon as the JV game ends to allow for our cleaning protocols. The two individuals may re-enter once the gym is sanitized.
  • Every fan will be required to social distance when at games and will be required to wear masks at every game.
  • Upon arrival to Wheaton Academy, fans will be certified by a member of the Athletic Department and have their temperature checked.
  • We will require attendance registration for games, which must be completed at least 24 hours before game time to ensure that attendance will be counted. Please click on the links below to register to attend games:
